These large deep stoneware plates on a foot are both functional and beautiful thanks to the artisanal approach and characterful materials which designer Marie Michielssen chose to use. These plates, which have been finished with a warm dark brown, almost black glaze, are part of the La Mère collection.

La Mère, the first ceramic tableware line of Marie Michielssen, is a loving ode to the (grand-)mother figure and women in general. The tableware looks slightly nostalgic but is, in many ways, innovative because of its vertical structure. Each shape is unique and hand-moulded. All pieces are finished with a glaze in broken white or a warm dark brown, almost black. As a third contrasting colour, Marie chose a bold Venetian red. The designer consciously chose these colours to create a mix & match of white with dark brown or red with dark brown. (la mere)
